The tremors were also felt in Kashmir's Srinagar, with a video released by ANI news agency showing a chandelier, a fan and lamp moving. Another video shared by a resident showed a hanging clock swaying lightly.

The quake, which occurred at a significant depth of 175 km, sent a brief wave of panic among residents. The depth allows seismic waves to travel farther distances, which explains why tremors were felt across northern India.

Residents stepped out of homes, offices
Residents in Delhi-NCR and nearby regions reported feeling mild shaking owing to tremors, with some stepping out of homes and offices as a precaution.

The mild tremors were also felt in other parts of north India, including Punjab and Haryana, and the shaking, which was felt at around 9:46 pm, lasted only a few seconds. Residents in several area, specially those living in multi-storey buildings, said they noticed sudden tremors and vibrations

"I felt a strong jolt which lasted for a few seconds," Baldev Chand, a Chandigarh resident who lives in a flat on the second floor, told PTI news agency. Another resident, Ajay Kumar, who lives on the 11th floor of a residential building in Punjab's Zirakpur, also confirmed that the tremors had lasted for a few seconds. “We thought of rushing down but the tremors stopped soon,” Kumar told PTI.
