$111 billion in banking assets, $39 bn in fund capital: GIFT City emerges as India’s global finance gateway

28 June 2026

GIFT City is now home to over 1,500 entities and supports a workforce of around 27,000 professionals, indicating that the ecosystem has moved well beyond a pilot-stage financial district.

At the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Regional Summit in Vadodara on Tuesday, June 30, Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) will highlight its evolution into India’s premier international financial gateway.

The dedicated session, “GIFT City: International Financial Gateway of India,” will feature senior regulatory, banking, and fund management leaders discussing cross-border finance and global market connectivity. Speakers will showcase GIFT City’s rapid scale—now encompassing over 1,500 entities and 27,000 professionals—driven by recent March 2026 data showing $111 billion in banking assets and 217 fund management entities commanding $39 billion in capital commitments.

Beyond scale, GIFT City is diversifying into specialised financial activities. 35 aircraft lessors and 36 ship lessors operate from the IFSC, with over 370 aviation assets and 37 ships leased through GIFT City structures. Corporate treasury centres are also intensifying use of the platform: loans and advances from these centres stood at USD 5.61 billion, underscoring GIFT City’s growing role in treasury management, liquidity planning and cross-border financing.

To engage stakeholders directly at the summit, GIFT City will set up an on-ground experiential pavilion showcasing its financial ecosystem, infrastructure and emerging opportunities in fund management, aircraft and ship leasing, fintech and international treasury operations. The pavilion will offer interactive insights for investors, service providers and corporates exploring India’s rapidly expanding gateway to global capital.
GIFT City bets on infrastructure to complement financial growth

GIFT City is looking to expand its identity beyond being a global financial hub, with plans for a world-class sports arena and a golf entertainment destination aimed at making the ecosystem more liveable and future-ready. According to Sanjay Kaul, Managing Director and Group CEO of GIFT City, the new initiatives are intended to improve quality of life, deepen community engagement and help build a more holistic urban environment for residents, professionals and global talent.
