The historical political drama will begin shooting next year.
Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar has announced a film on Dr Syama Prasad Mukherjee, titled Syama - The Missing Chapter.
The film will trace Mukherjee's political career, including his resignation from Jawaharlal Nehru's cabinet, his founding of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh in 1951 and his 1953 campaign against the permit system in Jammu and Kashmir, as well as his death in detention.
Described as a blend of historical drama and political thriller, it is backed by Aditya Kumar Halwasiya and co-produced by Bhandarkar Entertainment and AKH Ventures.
Shooting is set to begin next year, after Bhandarkar's The Wives of Bollywood. The cast has not been announced.
